About BDA Study Tour

Finding inspiration and strengthening relationships through shared experiences

The BDA Study Tour is an annual, curated travel experience designed to inspire fresh thinking about the future of Downtown Bellevue.

Each year, the Bellevue Downtown Association brings together a delegation of business leaders, civic partners, public officials, developers, community stakeholders, and urban advocates to explore another city’s downtown success stories firsthand. Through guided tours, local presentations, peer exchanges, and shared social experiences, delegates gain practical insights into how other urban centers are tackling growth, placemaking, transportation, economic development, public space, and neighborhood vitality.

The Study Tour is a relationship-building experience. Delegates travel, learn, and connect together  strengthening the local partnerships needed to shape Downtown Bellevue’s next chapter.

What to Expect

The Study Tour itinerary typically includes walking tours, expert-led presentations, local case studies, networking receptions, group meals, and opportunities to experience the host city’s neighborhoods, public spaces, and signature projects.

Programming is designed to highlight real-world lessons that can inform Bellevue’s continued evolution as a vibrant, connected, and welcoming urban center.

Why it Matters

Downtown Bellevue is growing quickly. The Study Tour gives local leaders a chance to step outside their daily work, see what is possible in other cities, and return with ideas that can support better decision-making, stronger partnerships, and a more dynamic downtown.

Past tours have explored themes such as urban revitalization, public-private partnerships, downtown management, public realm investment, transportation access, neighborhood identity, retail activation, and visitor experience.

Who Participates

The delegation includes a cross-section of Downtown Bellevue stakeholders, including:

  • Local business and property leaders

  • Civic and nonprofit partners

  • Elected and public agency representatives

  • Developers and urban planners

  • Community advocates and downtown champions

Together, delegates bring a mix of perspectives and return with a shared understanding of opportunities for Downtown Bellevue.
